whatever happens

Man, I'm having a rough couple of days.

I've been sick for a week or so. Nothing bad, I think just a sinus infection, but it has dragged me down.

Then it's been raining here. A lot. Like, about a foot of rain. The last round put the whole county on flash flood alert yesterday, and since I had to go out and I could see mini-lakes all over the place around the road, I wasn't surprised. What that means for us is that every trip to the barn has to be made through mud. Right now, the mud's about 2-4" deep.

So, in this situation... My roomie had to work yesterday, early, so I'd told her I would take the horses some hay and let them out of the barn (mostly because I felt too lousy to fight with the hay in the dark on Friday night). At 8:00 AM she wakes me up - her cockatiel, Vitae, who'd been acting sick Friday night, was definitely sick. So could I call the vet, then take the bird up there? The vet said they could take her at 9:15, which gave me just enough time to pull on some clothes. I ate breakfast in the car on the way up. I was there for well over an hour, and then, when I got home around 11:15, I still had to slog through the mud to put out hay in the two hay-rings and let the horses out of the barn, and I didn't stop until 12:30. I spent the rest of the day just trying to recover (except for doing laundry), and felt OK last night, but today it kinda caught up with me and I've been dragging.

Darn it, a few years ago, that little bit of work wouldn't have gotten to me like this, even sick. Ah well. It's hell gettin' old.

The worst of it is, we aren't sure the bird's going to make it. We're hoping. She does seem a little better. But we're still worried.

Oh, Kat, you poor girl! I do hope you feel better soon. Get plenty of rest and relaxation, okay?

I'm sending healing vibes to your roommate's bird.
Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I hope things will look up soon and that you'll get healthy quickly. Same goes for the bird.
I hope you're feeling better by now. Vitae as well. It might not be just the age, but when you're sick/tired it's easy to get drained.
It's hell gettin' old.

Ain't it the truth. And you haven't exactly had it easy lately. *huggles you*

I hope it stops raining soon, and I hope you're soon feeling better, and I hope that Vitae is getting better, too.

I'm thinking of you and sending good vibes your way, always.
I'm sorry the break didn't do you any good. Get well soon! I really hope your bird gets soon as well.
