Yet another happy moment in my life.

Long long long ago... in the 70s, I believe... I videotaped a "Great Performances" version of The Importance of Being Earnest. It was a taped performance of a stage version, and had two actors I enjoy, Wendy Hiller and Jeremy Clyde. I loved that show. To me, it is the quintessential version of the play. Unlike the recent movie, it emphasizes wit, not story, and is cleanly done, showing off Oscar Wilde's genius. I've watched it at least 20 times, and delighted in it every time.

But since it was on videotape, the picture - never very good to begin with - started to deteriorate, so I stopped watching it. Worse, after a particularly humid summer many years ago, several of my videotapes got mold in them, and I lost them. (One of the many reasons I love DVDs. Mold on them? Wipe it off.) I was terrified to open that tape, for fear that it was lost to me forever.

Then Randi got us a DVD recorder for Christmas. Today, with trembling hands, I took out that videotape. No mold. And now I have it on DVD.

I know it sounds silly, but I am so happy!!

Yay! Sometimes it's the small things like this that make life worth living, isn't it? *hugs*
