Thinking burns calories

Matthew Perry is cute, but he doesn't come close to his daddy in looks.

Yes, that was total randomness.

I took a quick detour from reading The Likeness in order to read the novelization of the Star Trek movie. Zachary Quinto narrated, and he did a good job! Now I'm back to The Likeness and nearly done. My theory about the murder was correct as far as I know - I still don't know the killer, only the circumstances. Tana French's strength isn't plot or character, although she's good at both, but style. She's got a lovely, rich style. I'm not sure I can say this without sounding nuts, but to me, words are like water, and sometimes you can plunge into them and play and splash and wallow. French's prose is like that, wallowing prose, lovely stuff. (I will add that I don't like "artsy" prose; I prefer my stories to be comprehensible and enjoyable. Just FYI.) The last author whose style I enjoyed this much was Diane Satterfield (The Thirteenth Tale).

I'm finally beginning - beginning - to get the hang of Facebook. It is cool having connected with some of my few college friends!
