Happy birthday to Loki!

And a very belated, but still heartfelt happy birthday to Amy. Not a teenager any more. :)

I just finished reading an amazing book. It's called The Thirteenth Tale, by Diane Setterfield. It's a reader's book, one that not only has a good story and good characters, but is chock-full of literary references and written so well that I have been positively wallowing in words. It has a twist that is so... well, I'm not doing spoilers, but lets say it changes your perceptions drastically. If you're a reader, get this book. It will reward you in ways that I can't begin to detail. It's one of the best-written books I've read in a long time - a strong story, and rich, rich prose. It can be enjoyed on a superficial level, but the depths of it...! Heck, there are probably forums about it, somewhere.

On a more frivolous note, I dreamt last night that I was having an affair with a 35-ish Pierce Brosnan (I was not in my real-life self), except he wasn't an actor, but a kind of demolitions expert who blew things up for, um, private employers. But he was having a crisis of conscience about having accidentally dumped a dangerous weapon into a river. So to keep it from bad-guy hands, he planned to blow up a train and dump the locomotive on top of the weapon. uh huh. Anyway, I surprised him by showing up at the top of the ridge where he was setting up. I got a nice long wet kiss out of it (I've been treasuring that memory all day), and then he said he'd meet me later, he had this train to blow up. I said great, and left, and ... wait for it... got on the train.
