Divette died.

We were afraid there was something else wrong - we think it might have been feline leuk. But she died quietly sometime during the day today, although she'd improved a lot last night.

She had a good, long life. By our best reckoning, she was about 14, a good age for a stray cat. Because although she got spayed, and her shots, and fed regularly, she was still a "stray" cat.

I'm not sure I've ever told the story about how she got her name. Her mother, Tsarina (who we lost to feline leuk long ago) came to us with her kitten in tow, and we fed them. The kitten would follow us down to the barn and meoooowwwww in a plaintive, warbling way. At the time, there was all that fuss about the divas, and I told her she sang like a diva, but she was too small to be a diva - hence, a little diva, or Divette.

I'm so sad. We tried, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

*HUGSHUGSHUGS* Unfortunately this is not the first cat death I've heard about today, but at least this is one that involved a long life and a peaceful passing. I know you'll miss her.
*sniff* ... :( She was lucky to have you, while she was here. Poor thing, though. I'm sorry for your loss. :(
Oh, so sad... Condolences to you and your roommate...
I'm so sorry for your loss, Kat. But she had a very good life with you. *hugs*
Fourteen? That's an extremely impressive age for a stray cat to reach! I'm so sorry that you lost her. *hug*

I always love hearing about how pets get their names. Divette's story was adorable.
I am so very sorry for your loss but, at the same time, glad that Divette was truly loved and cared for.
*HUGSHUGS* I'm so sorry about the cat. :-( But, of course, I know she was very much loved and cared for and had a good life. I know all too well that doesn't make you miss them any less.

The story about how she got her name is adorable.
