I've given up chocolate. All chocolate. As of yesterday. For 30 days.

Those of you who know me, know I'm addicted to the stuff. My boss is going on a strict diet; we were talking about weight loss in general, and I mentioned that the last time I'd given up chocolate, I'd lost 20 lbs in a month. So, in the best tradition of misery loving company, she challenged me to give up chocolate for the 30 days she'll be on the diet. And I said, "Sure, why not?"

Right now it's really not too bad. My withdrawal symptoms are quite mild.

Chocolate is my downfall. I wish that I could give it up completely.
Oh, wow... that's some goal! I'm certain I couldn't do it. Still, if you start dropping the pounds, it'll totally be worth every withdrawal symptom.

Losing 20 pounds in one month is amazing!! Are there any other indulgences that you can partake of in the meantime that might serve as consolation? (Any that aren't just as bad, of course) XD
Not really. I mean, I am not going hungry - this isn't a diet, just a chance to play kick-the-habit. I'm eating walnuts and Bit-O-Honey and tapioca, stuff like that, when I would normally be eating chocolate. But they're only to keep from being hungry. There is nothing I love like chocolate.

Okay, all kidding aside now, in reality I wish you the best of luck. I don't think I could do it, myself. I tried cutting caffeine out (or at least majorly down) when I was pregnant, and that included cutting out chocolate. It was really difficult -- I hadn't realized how many candy bars I ate until then.

Not to be presumptuous, but I think giving up something for 30 days is only going to make you want it more. I would suggest ingesting it in controlled portions. It is doable. Trust me on this one. It's the "forbidden fruit" aspect of the situation that concerns me.

And of course, feel free to tell me to mind my own business. ;)

Don't worry about it. I'm not seriously trying to break my habit. I just took up a dare. Every once in a while I do something just to see if I can!
Well, it's been four days and no more writings since you gave up chocolate. I can only assume that means you're curled up, catatonic, in a closet somewhere.

Quick! Someone run an IV line with Nestle's Quick, STAT!!!
ROFL!!! Actually, I am filling the gap quite well with tapioca, wafer cookies, Nilla vanilla wafers, Werther's, and Bit-o-Honeys. Luckily, my goal is not really to lose weight!
