Happy birthday to the talented and sweet reymonkey!!

Life has been exciting here lately. I'd prefer boring, actually.

A tornado came through my town about 20 minutes ago, doing heavy damage to some homes. It missed us, although the storm did bring us a downpour and some grape-sized hail. Still, the angels protected us, because this storm front has dragged across east Texas bringing several tornados, baseball-sized hail, immensely strong rain, and lightning strikes at the rate of as many as 180/minute. Yeah, really, not a typo.

My roomie has a spider bite that's about two years old - the doctors say most likely from a brown recluse - and it flared up again this week and became a staph infection. So now she's sitting around at home, like me, only with the opposite instruction: I'm supposed to walk, and she's supposed to sit with her leg propped up. The doc hit her with a couple of antibiotics, and she's already improving. Whew.

I did get the staples out, and let me tell you, those of you (whoever you are, be grateful I have forgotten) who told me that getting staples out wouldn't hurt, you are so WRONG. It hurt like hell! When I thought I couldn't stand it another moment, I whispered to the nurse, "Almost done?" and she said cheerily, "Only 15 more to go." Thought I was going to die. But they are gone now, and every day I can sit longer in one place.

Which is good, because Nano is almost here.

Aww, thank you so much! Sorry to hear about the tornado... that's... scary, but impressive.

Best of good health wishes to you and your roomie!
It was me that told you getting the staples out didn't hurt, and you know I would never purposely lie about something like that. :P I had numerous staples with my c-section, and I remember very distinctively that they did not hurt coming out, because I was terrified that they were going to. The doctor used something that looked like a huge staple-puller, but which kind of just popped them out, and I was all like "AHHH, get that away from me!" when I saw it, but it didn't hurt at all, and, in fact, my incision felt so much better after they were out (because the staples had been pulling on it), and I was greatly relieved. I remember everything else about my experience perfectly after 28 years, so I know I remember that correctly! /babble.

Having said all that, sorry yours hurt so much coming out! And I'm glad the tornado didn't get you!

It could be because the abdomen is softer than the hip and thigh?
It could have been many things. It was 28 years ago, and perhaps they were a different type of staples. Or it could have been the fact that I was taking percocet. ;)
