hard journey

I took my roomie to the eye doctor on Thursday, a cataract specialist. She hasn't been able to see much, other than a grey haze, through her left eye for weeks, and she'd been diagnosed with cataracts, so we figured she'd get the cataract surgery and be fine. Nope. She has cataracts, but not enough to interfere with her vision. They ran six different tests on her, and they've been able to rule out a retinal problem, so they believe it's the optic nerve. She's actually lost all vision in the lower third of the eye. She now needs to see a neurologist and get an MRI. So things are a bit depressing here right now. :(

That sucks. I wish I could comment, but the healthcare's so much different here than there. I hope they figure out what the issue is and take care of it ASAP.
I'm sure they will. She's coming to where I work, which is a medical university, and all the doctors are good. They're required to stay up to date because they teach as well as serve. I'm worried that she may lose sight in the eye or that her insurance won't cover it all, but I'm not worried about the level of care that she'll get. Thanks for the good thoughts!
Sorry to hear it. :( Hope there's a simple solution and nothing seriously wrong. I'll be sending healing thoughts and prayers. *hugs to you both*
Please tell your room-mate that I'm sending her my love. ♥
I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm glad to know she'll get nothing but the best treatment, but I do hope it's something reversible. She will be in my thoughts and prayers.
